Have you ever been on a plane?
Do you remember your first plane trip?
Where did you go?
On September 11, 2001, the world changed.
Flying somewhere today is a whole new experience.
It has been 20 years since the tragic events in NYC
What do you know about the attacks on September 11, 2001?
Why is it important to understand how 9/11 affected the world?
Explain.

ReplyDeleteThe first time I ever was on a plane was when I was six years old and I was going to disney world. I don't remember much about the plane ride but I remember when I was at disney world. We went to disney world around the 17 to the 24 of september( during my birthday) I remember having a lot of fun with my famille at the waterpark. My favorite ride was Splash Mountain.
I don't know much about 9/11. All I know is that it's about a plane that crashed into the twin tower and killed thousands of people. I was not born yet but my mom said it was terrible and she saw it live on tv. This is a very important moment in history. I'm glad security has gotten much better so that this never ever happens again.
I have been on many planes, I go on planes maybe one to three times a year. The very first time I was on a plane I was 5 months old, we lived in Edmonton at the time and we were going to my grandparents house, in Ontario. One plane ride I remember was when my family moved to Quebec around two and a half years after I was born. I went on a plane from Edmonton to Quebec. Now usually when I go on a plane it is to visit my dad, who lives in vancouver. But now that I have answered some of the more personal questions, I am going to talk about the main question. “What do you know about the attacks on September 11, 2001? Why is it important to understand how 9/11 affected the world?” What I know about 9/11 is that there was a plane travelling from northeastern United states to california, and the plane was hijacked in the middle of the flight. The people who hijacked the plane turned it around and started flying it towards New York. The poor people who were on the plane were terrified. I would be too. When that plane got to New York, it was flown straight into the north tower at the world trade center, a plane full of poor innocent people was flown into a building full of more poor innocent people. That was the first plane. There was then a second plane that was then flown into the other tower directly beside the previously hit north tower. Once again full of people. From some of the research I did, apparently 2,996 innocent lives were taken. That is almost 3,000 people who died. I can’t even imagine what that was like for all the people who were watching that live. Or even for the poor, poor, people who were in the planes. Taken against their own will and flown into a building to their death. 9/11 is a very very horrible thing that I can’t even imagine happening. It’s horrible that this actually happened. I wasn't alive during this, but this was a month before my sister was born.
ReplyDeleteGood job Bayley, It is horrible what happened.

ReplyDeleteI have been on a plane many times in my life. My first flight was when I was 9 months old. I traveled with my family frequently, a few times a year prior to before I started school. I enjoy travelling and taking the plane. A group of terrorists were trained to hijack planes and executed their mission on September 11, 2001 by crashing 4 planes on US territory. Approximately 3000 people lost their lives from these 4 attacks, including the passengers, the fire fighters and the people in the buildings. It is important to understand that the world has changed forever after these attacks by increasing security while traveling. The security checks are more thorough. There has been an increase in hate crimes and racial profiling.

Great writing Kris!
DeleteI have been on a plane twice. Once to New Brunswick and once to France. New Brunswick was my first plane trip, but I don’t really remember much because I was very young. The only thing that I remember was when my parents bought me a mini Lego set to assemble on the plane.
ReplyDeleteI don’t know much about this horrible attack, but here is what I do know. The attack on 9/11 is when terrorists hijacked two planes and flew them right into the World Trade Center in New York city, where almost 3000 innocent people got killed. It was a huge loss to many people in the United States. I did some research and I discovered that there were two more planes that had gotten hijacked. One hit the pentagon (The United States Department of Defense) in Washington, DC and another plane crashed in a field in Pennsylvania.
It is important to understand how 9/11 affected the world because a lot has changed since then. For starters, in airports, a lot of new security measures have been put in place. You have to take off your hat, belt, shoes, and jackets (in case anything is hidden). You have to walk through body scanners (in case of metal weapons). You have to put your laptop in a separate bin (in case of hidden explosives), and MANY more. But we also have to remember what happened and to commemorate those who died. A lot of people had family members who were either in the plane, or in the buildings, and lost their lives.

if im not mistaken i think four planes crahsed into the twin towers
DeleteI checked on google and two of the planes hit the twin towers, one hit the pentagon and the last one got shot somewhere in Pennsylvania.
Deleteit hit in a field in pennsilvania beacouse the passengers over took the cockpit

I have been on several planes, as my family goes on a vacation each year. Due to covid we sadly could not go this year. The first time I went on a plane was when I was around 4 years old, we had gone to Disney Land. I remember having a lot of fun there. The second time was probably when I was 5 and I think we went to Cuba. Family vacations are very fun and I am extremely happy that my parents started this tradition.
ReplyDeleteThe 9/11 attack is a very serious and important topic to understand. The attack caused airports to ensure so many different checks and rules in order to actually get on the plane. We should be thankful they implied these rules as there would be many more terrorist attacks on planes to this day. A lot of people had family members who died in that plane crash and I simply cannot imagine how sad that would be. The rules on air planes are very important. The 9/11 attack was horrible. Around 3000 people were killed. I believe in New York there are fountains commemorating the twin tower and the people who died in the crash.

My first trip
DeleteThe first time I ever went on a plane was when I was 5 or 6. My parents told my brother and I that my dad had to go on a business trip. When we arrived at the airport my dad said that my mom had to come with him. My aunt was in the car and she said that my brother and I were going to stay with her. We both screamed yay!!! at the same time.
We were about to leave when my parents asked if we wanted to come. We were unsure at first, but we reluctantly said yes. We walked into the airport and my parents asked us where we wanted to go. My brother who at the time was 4 or 5 said Legoland but I screamed Disney. We ended up going to Disney for 8 days and it was the best trip ever. It was like La Ronde, Calypso and all of my favorite Disney movies piled into one.
9/11
Twenty years ago in NYC there was a terrible attack. A group of terrorists hijacked some planes and crashed them into buildings. Two of the tallest buildings in NYC were destroyed, killing thousands of people. The World Trade Center was destroyed. This was a targeted attack by al-Qaeda that happened on Tuesday September 11 2001. This attack resulted in 2977 fatalities and thousands of injuries. It is important to understand that 9/11 was a very dark and unpleasant time. So many innocent lives were lost in an attack that shouldn't have happened in the first place. To honor the people that lost their lives, we should take a moment of silence to commemorate them.
wow good job naomi you wrote a lot!
DeleteGood job! YOu wrote a lot and did a great job explaining!

ReplyDeleteThe first time I went on a plane was when I was only nine months old. I had been going to China for a trip with my family. Since I was nine months old, I don’t remember anything, but from pictures I’ve seen, I slept most of the way. I don;t know much about the tragic and horrible events that were on that day, but I do know a little. The attack from terrorists killed thousands of people and caused mass destruction. Although I wasn’t born yet, my parents saw it all on TV. Ever since that day, they’ve upped the security and I feel that planes are much more safe.

I have been on a plane only once, to Toronto. I was visiting my cousin, I was six. I cannot imagine how it felt to be on one of those planes whilst they crashed. I learned about this from my parents. My father was there that that day, he was visiting a friend, and then all of a sudden he heard thousands of people screaming, he didn’t know what to do, or what to think. He looked out the window of his hotel, (which was far away from the buildings thankfully) and saw people running in all directions. Then as if a lightning bolt had hit right next to him, the two towers came crashing down. That’s how my dad tells the story anyway. He said he couldn’t get back to Canada for weeks because all the flights were cancelled, and when he finally got up in the air, heavy smoke covered New York completely. It is important to remember those who lost their lives that day.

The first time I was on a plane I want to Disney World in Orlando. To me it was very long going through security and I was about 7 years of age. It is important to talk about 911 because many lives were lost that day and if this didn't happen security would not be as good as back in 2001. how 911 happened is that someone who got a weapon of some sorts and hijacked the commercial plane and crashed straight in the twin towers.

Yes, I definitely have been on a plane before, I used to go once every 2 years to Myrtle Beach for my birthday. My first trip on a plane was headed to Myrtle Beach. My grandparents were taking me there for my fourth birthday. We went through at least an hour and a half of security before getting on the plane. I remember watching movies with my mom and grandma on my DVD set the whole way there. Even though the whole security seemed pretty normal for me since that was how it always was through my lifetime, apparently there was almost no security on planes before the incident.
ReplyDeleteFrom what I know, the nine eleven was an incident that took place in the United States on September 11. 2996 people died that day by four planes that were hijacked by a group of terrorists and crashed. Two of the planes each hit one of the twin towers in New York, one hit the pentagon and the fourth plane was shot down somewhere in Pennsylvania.
That incident changed the whole security zone of airports and restrictions on the plane. Now we go through approximately one hour of security before getting on the plane and pilots have much more sufficient solid doors to the front of the plane. Also, if I remember right planes are not permitted to pass or go anywhere near the white house anymore. Us ourselves can’t even bring any sort of liquid or food on the plane because of explosives and other issues.

DeleteThe first time I
ReplyDeleteI have been on an airplane many times. I'm pretty sure the first time I was on a plane I went to thunder bay to visit my grandparents at the age of two. I don't personally remember it but I have seen videos that my parents took while I was there. I like to ride planes when I go places ( which is very rare) because I think it's so cool that I'm in the clouds and at the very end and beginning there is a short period where you can see the world from up high. However my parents don't like it because of airport security which was changed on Sept 11 2001
ReplyDeleteOn sept 11 2001 two planes were hijacked and were flown into the twin towers in New York city.
and killed thousands of people. This was a very tragic moment on the timeline. 9/11 changed plane travelling for all time by making security protocols way more strict. They scan your luggage, carry ons, scan you, ask for your id, sometimes they even do a special scan of your hand to see if you have any explosive traces of any sort. And if you have a baby, they scan their stroller, you're not allowed to bring big bottles of water, there are many other things they do.People don't want this event to happen again so they insure these protocols for everyone's safety. So in conclusion 9/11 had a big impact on travelling.

I have been on a plane before but the first time I did I was very young so I don't remember it but I know that I went to Cuba. I don’t know that much about the attacks but I know that it was a terrorist attack and they hijacked a plane and flew it into the twin towers but that wasn’t the only attacks that day I think something happened to the world trade centre but I'm not sure what.

DeleteI briefly remember my first plane ride because it was when I was two years old. But I remember that I went to Jamaica. And I loved it because it was very different from Canada. I also really liked it because there was a lot of exotic stuff that I've never seen before. I don't really know a lot about the attack of 911 but i do know that it was a terrorist attack on the twin towers. I think it changed the world because know the security for plains is a lot better because they check basically everything.
ReplyDeleteWilliam D.
Ya the security is really srtict .
DeleteBut for the best.

ReplyDeleteThe first time I went on a plane was when I was 11 months old and since I wasn't even 1 years old I don't remember anything but the pictures I saw were nice. I went to my aunts house in Holland and from the pictures I saw there were a lot of ducks. I wasn't alive when the planes crashed but I've heard that there were 4 planes and two of them hit the twin towers, they were hijacked by Osama bin Laden and Ayman al-Zawahiri Al-Qaeda. Before 9/11 my mom said that there wasn't much airport security, but now we can't even bring water on a plane. I think it's important to know that 3000 people died because of two planes because we should live like it could be our last day.
The first time I was on a plane i was one year old so I do not remember a thing but I do know that I was going to Switzerland. I don't know too much about the 9/11 and sorry if I say something incorrect the things I now about the 9/11 is that there where two planes that some terrorists that took over planes and crashed the planes purposefully into the twin towers and killed thousands. I also know that there where two other attempts of terrorism but I cant remember where. now 20 years after the those horrible attacks flying is so so different, for example then there was not a lot of security but now because of 9 11 they pushed up with safety protocols like scanning all your things scanning you for any weapons of sorts. But yeah now the world is a lot more careful that before because of it.
ReplyDeleteThe first plane ride I remember was when I went to Jamaica with my parents, brother and sister (who wasn't born yet). A few days before we left I had just finished camp where we were doing a project to clean up the camp. On the plane ride over I showed my mom something on the plane, I GOT POISON IVY !!! So throughout my entire trip I had an itchy rash.
ReplyDeleteOn september 11, 2001 there was a terrorist attack on the twin towers in time square. There were also two other attacks one at the pentagon in Washington D.C and the other was at a field in the town of stonycreek townships. But the twin towers are the most known.
Those events have affected us more than we know, like before the attacks the security wasn't very strict but now, your bags get scanned you get scanned you're not even allowed to bring water on the plane. Sometimes you can even get random baggage checked after the scan. But I think it's all for the best.
Samantha
No, I have not been on a plane. A group of terrorists hijacked I think 4 planes at around the same time. 2 of them hit each twin tower in New York city, one of them hit the pentagon in Washington and the other one crashed into a field in Pennsylvania. I think what they did was extremely horrible. When I was first told about it a few years ago, I was shocked. It's really horrible how they took thousands of lives, including them, and get nothing out of it. It's important to understand that doing something like that can lead you nowhere in life. Thousands of people have to suffer the loss of their family members and friends all because of those terrorists.
ReplyDeleteMy first plane trip was to Turks and Caicos when i was about 2 or 3 i dont remember much but what i do remember is that after that i went to Turks about 11 more times after that .
ReplyDeleteNow what do I know about 9 11. I know that 4 planes were hijacked by terrorists and crashed into the twin towers and sadly nobody survived that horrible crash.
-Bilal
DeleteI have been on several planes, mostly to Toronto (because my mom used to work at a small airline called Porter and it was cheap to fly). The first time I went on a plane was when I was two years old. My family and I went to Cancun, Mexico, I don't remember anything since I was so young.
ReplyDeleteFrom my knowledge of 9/11, terrorists hijacked four planes each filled with twenty thousand gallons of jet fuel. Two planes crashed into the twin towers, one into the Pentagon and one trailed off into Pennsylvania. Approximately 3000 were killed. This chain of events led to the creation of the Department of Homeland Security, which is responsible for preventing terror attacks and aiding border security.
I think it is very important to talk about 9/11 because of how much it changed travelling by plane these days. Airport security is a lot more strict nowadays, you need to show your ID and all of your luggage is scanned for potentially dangerous objects. I think we should all commemorate the people who lost their lives during this horrible event.

ReplyDeleteThe first time flying in a plane was when I was 7 months old and was flying from Delhi to Chicago. I don't remember anything, I was too young. I have flown in a plane a lot as a child as we went for many vacations since m dad had a LOT of conferences, in fact, we were about to go to Japan this fall but, COVID happened, cursing the world from not being able to travel while seeking the knowledge from ancient castle ruins to museums.
9/11 (its my brothers birthday I'm wheezing someone help me)
The attacks on 9/11 were held by a Sunni Islamist multinational organisation called Al-Qaeda (Sunni, being one of the two branches of Islam. The word was derived from the phrase Ahl al-Sunnah, meaning People of Traditions. source: https//bbc.org).
I have read that this is a series of four attacks, but some people say something else. But anyway the result was the same. The planes were hijacked and flown into the World Trade Centre in Manhattan, New York. The first plane to hit its target was American Airlines Flight 11. It was flown into the North Tower of the World Trade Center complex in Lower Manhattan at 8:46 am. Seventeen minutes later at 9:03 am, the World Trade Center's South Tower was hit by United Airlines Flight 175. Both 110-story towers collapsed within an hour and forty-two minutes, leading to the collapse of the other World Trade Center structures including 7 World Trade Center, and significantly damaging surrounding buildings.
A third flight, American Airlines Flight 77, flown from Dulles International Airport, was hijacked over Ohio. At 9:37 am, it crashed into the west side of the Pentagon (the headquarters of the American military) in Arlington County, Virginia, causing a partial collapse of the building's side. The fourth, and final flight, United Airlines Flight 93, was flown in the direction of Washington, D.C. The plane's passengers attempted to regain control of the aircraft away from the hijackers and ultimately diverted the flight from its intended target; it crashed into a field near Shanksville, Pennsylvania at 10:03 am. Investigators determined that Flight 93's target was either the White House or the U.S. Capitol. (The previous two paragraphs were sourced from Wikipedia)
I would like to speak a bit about Todd Beamer. He was one of the few passengers aboard United Airlines Flight 93 that tried to regain control of the aircraft from the hijackers. He had 3 children and his final words were "Okay, let's roll." Heard by his wife, Lisa Beamer. He was 36 when he died in the crash. Imagine how his wife and kids must have felt when they heard that their father/husband died. I cannot imagine.
Hopefully later on, humans will be more open minded and not fight through these actions, as they can impact so many lives. Around 3,000 people were killed, more than 6,000 injured, now imagine how many suffered mental and emotional trauma.
My thoughts on hijacks and extremist attacks
After I watched a movie in Hindi called "Neerja" which was named after a flight attendant, Neerja Bhanot who had laid down her life for her passengers when they were hijacked. She was killed in 1986 in Jinnah International Airport, Pakistan in Karachi. She was only 23 when she died.
I also find the story of the Utøya Massare very heartbreaking. When a bomb was detonated in Olso, Norway and a summer camp for teens was fired at by a 32-year-old right-wing extremist.
Thank you for reading my blog!
-Aahna <3
Wow, you really put in a lot of effort in this blog.
DeleteGreat job!
My first plane ride was with my dad and my godfather to attend my aunts wedding in Greece but I don't remember much. The September 11 2001 attack was an act of terrorism.Four planes that were hijacked by the terrorists of the group al-Qaeda crashed on the New York world trade center(also know as twin towers) and the pentagon located in Washington D.C . This means that it was a coordinated attack. The founders of al-Qaeda Osama bin Laden and Abdullah Azam were the ones responsible for this event. Thousands of people were killed the during the 9/11 attack. Since then, the New York world trade center has been rebuilt but turned into a museum to remember what happened on this tragic day. Today, you need to go through a series of security in order to assure the safety of everyone before boarding a plane. Even twenty years later, families are still mourning the loss of their loved-ones who passed away during this horrific event.

DeleteI have been on a plane multiple times. My family and I usually go on a plane at least 2 times a year, however now because of Covid-19 we haven’t been able to go on a plane since February 2019. My dad is a pilot and so that factors into why we go on a plane a lot.
ReplyDeleteThe first time I went on a plane, I was 5 months old. I remember nothing. I went from New Brunswick to Mexico. We went to visit my grandparents, and so I could get baptised. Since then I’ve been on a plane a bunch of times. Most plane rides I completely forget, like when I moved from New Brunswick to Quebec when I was 2. My most lively memories of going on planes are feeling sick, the feeling of my ears popping on our descent, and eating boxes of Swedish Berries.
The 9/11 has been something that my family has gotten into great detail talking about, because I have always been intrigued by something so tragic, so unreal. Usually these terrorist attacks are something you only see in a movie. I know that 2 planes were hijacked by members of the terrorist group Al-Qaeda. Al-Qaeda was an pan-Islamist militant organization that was founded in the 1980s by Osama Bin Laden. Osama Bin Laden was found and killed only 5 years ago.
9/11 was a worldride shock and it affected many people. 2 planes were hijacked and crashed into the twin towers. Nearly 3,000 people were killed. The 9/11 is what you would call a “suicide attack” because all of 19 terrorist died crashing the planes into the twin towers, the Pentagon, and in Pensylvania.
Because of 9/11 there is more airport security, you now have to take off your shoes, your belt, take all liquids out of your carry ons. Loved ones used to be able to greet and bid you farewell at the gate. Before 9/11 you didn’t have to wait in such long line ups for the security check.

ReplyDeleteLong ago when I was very young my mother had taken me on a plane trip to Saint Vincent and the Grenadines. I don't remember much, because I was too young. But for those who do not know Saint Vincent and the Grenadines is an island situated in the windward islands of the lesser Antilles. It is a part of a big chain of smaller islands known as the Grenadines which is an Archipelago. It sits in the West Indies at the end of the Caribbean sea. As it is in the Atlantique ocean near the equator Saint Vincent is a tropical country with a very outstanding array of fauna with a particular species of parrot being represented as the national bird called the Amazona Guildingii.
September 11, 2001 at 8:46 am smoke poured out of the twin towers of the world trade center after being targeted by two hijacked airliners in a terrorist attack. Within the span of 17 minutes another plane hit the southern tower. Both 110 story towers collapsed in the time frame of 1 hour 42 minutes. The day of the tragedy over 3000 were killed and 25000 were injured. 911 was named the deadliest terrorist attack in history. Many of the surrounding homes and buildings were destroyed . Law enforcement officers and firefighters had lost their lives and we will honour their sacrifice. The terrorist had easily smuggled cookie cutter knives consequently airline security has become more strict even going as far as to restrict water bottles on the airplane. They check your luggage over and over again. All passengers 18 and over need a government issued ID . Airliners now have bullet proof glass and cockpit doors are now locked and pilots are allowed to carry firearms.

I have never actually been on a plane. Sad, I know. But I do think I know a thing or two about 9/11. Have you ever seen the TV show called Mayday? Well, it talks about plane crashes, and one episode it talked about 9/11. I remember watching a video clip of the second plane crashing into the second tower, and, moments later I watched the first tower collapse on itself. Apparently, the heat had melted the foundations so much, that the last forty flours or something on the top, just fall into the rest of the building. And I remember the people being interviewed, people who survived 9/11, talking about these firemen. One of the women being interviewed saying, that even if they passed huge stampedes of people running to get out of the building, the firemen would keep climbing. If they passed a child or someone that couldn't get out there fast enough, one of the firemen would carry them down while the rest kept climbing. I wasn't even born yet when it happened, but I felt terrible watching that episode of Mayday. I know it sounds stupid, but people actually need to work together so this never happens again, to maybe one of us or future generations.
