The federal election (for Canada's Prime Minister) is being held on Monday, September 20,2021.

That is why we have NO SCHOOL!

Do you and your family follow politics?

What makes Canada such a GREAT country?

If you were the Prime Minister, how would you continue to make Canada great?

How would you IMPROVE Canada?

Explain.

  1. My family does not follow politics, except during the elections. They are very persistent during the elections. Always spouting facts about Justin Trudeau, talking about how bad some people’s advertising is. Canada is great because of the free health care and the no-guns policy. But that’s not all, Canada also has great big mountains, tons of water which provide great Hydroelectricity. Canada in all is a great place to live or to travel to for vacation. If I were the prime minister, I would lower the taxes and add more natural protections to preserve natural resources. I would improve Canada by hearing out people’s opinions and suggestions. Make them feel like they have a saying in what the government does.

  2. My family does not follow politics except my dad, so I don't know much about the elections. I think Canada is great because we have a lot of freedom here in Canada. Another awesome part is the people there are so many great people in Canada like whenever you go to a store most of the cashiers are going to be nice (hopefully not grumpy). If I was prime minister I would try my best to lower prices on very popular items. I would also donate a lot of money to People of companies in need like homeless people, hospitals and assisted living homes. I would also try to listen to the people of Canada and fix the problems(in reason). This is how I would improve Canada and act if I were prime minister.

  4. My family and I don’t really talk much about politics. Maybe during election time, someone might bring it up, but most of the time, we don’t talk about it.
    What makes Canada such a great country, is that we have a lot of natural resources including the following;
-Freshwater. Freshwater is very important! Many people use freshwater rivers to provide hydroelectricity. It also gives us water to drink (once it has been purified).
-Forests. Forests are also very important! They purify our air, they are vital to the wildlife, and also help children by reducing stress, anxiety and mental health issues.
-Coal. In Canada, we have 0.6 percent of the world's coal. This can be used as fuel for transportation, and to make electricity.
Sadly, the amount of freshwater in Canada is decreasing because of pollution, climate change, etc. Forests are also endangered. More and more people are cutting down trees, and there have been wildfires.
If I was Prime Minister, I would organize groups of people (volunteers) to help protect our country. I would have the groups plant about 10 000 trees in every province. I would support all of the electric car companies by giving them money to expand their business, so that there is less gas usage. I would do the same for the electric bus companies.
I would improve Canada by reducing poverty. In the previous paragraph, I said that I would organize groups to help the environment. This would give people jobs, and give them money. I would also set up many shelters for people who don’t have homes, and work on building more houses/apartments. Instead of taking up the forest, I would build the homes upwards.

I think Canada is a a very Canadian country (well duh). Its an awesome place to live in my opinion. It is pretty safe considering some places (the gunshots I heard a few weeks ago: Are you a joke to me?). If you are a person that loves nature, this is a pretty good place since Canada respects nature and there is a law in Quebec (I think it still exists) that reserves fertile soil for farming purposes. Canada is a very green country, and I think other countries should think more about vegetation as is it the only thing keeping our lungs alive (other than external atmospheric pressure that is preventing your lungs from bursting. Good luck sleeping tonight :P). Another reason is why Canada is a great country is that it has diversity! I am an immigrant here, when I came here in 2016, I was shocked by two things; one, the snow because I came here in March and I had seen snow once in Switzerland and Paris and I was coming from Singapore, where if you an escape the humidity, life becomes heavenly. But then I realized I would get to play in it every day (until I got sick). And the second thing was that my dad knew people here! I was new to french but my dad's friends were Indian and we spoke in Hindi and English later to find out that there were Indian kids in my school too! Another thing is that Canada respects LGBTQ+ rights a lot more than other countries, which is a good thing to know. I also love the fact that they have ski resorts, I have not been to one, but would love to go!
I also like the fact that now they are recognizing indigenous rights as they had pulled the curtains a while ago.

Do me and my family follow politics? No. We are more into watching Indian News, which I find very boring, as I am not into politics. But if anything is on the news about Canada, I am usually the imformer to the rest of my family. But I would much rather spend my time listening to some Norse music (yeah you heard me right).

If I could improve Canada, I would stop the use of single use plastics and reduce the use of paper for almost everything. Why print a receipt when you can send it, or maybe scan it if you need it. That way if you ever need to return something you don't turn the house upside down looking for it. Also, what is with such a useless rule of the use of surgical masks, so much waste, and clearly cotton masks provide better service! It covers the side/ends of your cheeks, that surgical masks don't do. Also, I would listen to the opinions of children. As much as elders deserve respect, children do too. We are the ones that will shape the future and hopefully rid it from it's problem, and it all starts out as children, the dreamers, rather than the others that unfortunately won't be there to help us hopefully fix this small world of ours.

Some personal reasons I love Canada:
-Montreal Bagels (New York get outta here)
    -Greenery, greenery and greenery
    -Tim Hortons
-the fact that McDonalds made something called McBites. It makes me laugh.
    -Friendssss here
-The fact that the weather changes in the blink of an eye
    -Diversity

Thank you for reading this blog!

  6. The federal elections

My family doesn't really follow politics. We talk about it a bit when the elections are in full swing but that's about it. We wouldn't be talking about what's for dinner and then randomly start talking about politics.

I think Canada is such a great country because we have natural resources like hydro electricity . But we also have the good maple syrup. In certain places they don't even have maple syrup. I feel bad for them.My brother really likes ice hockey one because he likes to skate but also because most or maybe even all his friends play hockey .Did you know that hockey is Canada's international sport.

If i were the prime minister I would make some changes like for example we would have less school like 3 day weekends but then 4 days of school. I would also listen to some of the people who aren't heard much, maybe they have some good ideas worth sharing. That is how I would improve Canada

  7. My family doesn’t follow politics, but they do when they're interested in it. I like listening to my parent’s conversations and getting involved to state a point or just say what’s on my mind. I genuinely think Canada is an amazing country, but I know we still have to do a lot to improve it. Canada’s prime minister, Justin Trudeau, has made decent decisions in trying to handle everything lately, with the pandemic and all. Canada is a mostly safe place for refugees from other countries and has a healthy economy. If I were the prime minister, I would maybe lower the taxes and improve the salary for teachers all around the country. I would improve Canada by trying to urge people to use more safe and environmentally friendly materials.

  8. My family doesn't follow politics but during the election like now we do because we think that it's interesting.I think Canada is a great country because there is a lot of things for you to do and not that much stuff that can hold you back. And here in canada most people don't judge you of the way that you look which i find is very good because compared to other countries they dont have that same stuff. If i were prime minister of canada then i would make people absolutely need to take the vaccine because then most stuff might go back to normal.I would make canada better by making it so that for people in more unlucky situation we could lower the prices of differents essential stuff.

  9. I don't really follow politics but sometimes I overhear my mom listening to the news in the kitchen so that answers the second question that if my parents follow politics so they do but not too much too. What makes Canada such a great country is that people have the right to speak to DEMOCRACY people! If I were Prime Minister I would first of all make it mandatory to wear masks in common areas like downtown, the metro etc. except for home like in Japan not only for Covid but also because I find it respectful since if you are sick you don't pass it to others. But I would never be Prime Minister because I don't want to and I think there is so much pressure.

  10. My family doesn't follow politics except around the federal or provincial elections. I try to understand some of it, like figuring out which political parties seem better in my opinion. Other than that, we are not big on politics.
I think Canada is such a great country because we have clean water and free healthcare. We are so lucky to be able to just turn on the tap and drink from it. Another great thing we have here is all the natural resources and breathtaking landscapes. There is also so much untouched land in Canada (which is sadly being deforested).
If I were the prime minister I would make Canada better by investing in shelter and jobs for the homeless. I would get tons of trees planted all over the country. I would also put more strict measures on acquiring a firearm or bladed weapon. Those are a couple of my ideas on improving Canada.

  11. I'm not really sure if my family follows politics, so I asked my mom, and she told me that we only follow politics when it's interesting. Personally, I find Canada is a peaceful nation and is at peace with many other countries. Canada is also very big, so it can welcome anyone. The country has a lot of nature, and Canada has more clean water than any other nation.

Now, if I were Prime Minister, I'd definitely try to make this place better. I know people say that we're the most polite people on earth, but actually living here will change your mind. There are plenty of things wrong with our society. I'd do as best I could to help the homeless situation, because I feel terrible going to downtown and seeing homeless people there, especially in the winter. I'd also attend Parades in pride month, to make a bigger deal that these people want to be excepted by everybody. I'd do everything I could to help major situations, without the country going broke. It would be difficult, but I'm sure with enough analyzing and help I could figure something out.

Durring the summer I frequented the news along with my parents but nowadays the time I spend on the news has been significantly reduced as I have to spend more time doing my work as high school is a whole new experience and I need more time to get used to it . I believe that Canada is a beautiful country not only because of its amazing nature parks and cuisine but I think what makes Canada such a great place is not just the attraction and natural beauty but the people that inhabit it. As Prime minister I would try my best to listen to the people and their suggestions. Try to make them feel as if they have a say in the matter. I'd also try to future economics , I would try to be equitation educationally towards the people. I may also attempt to allocate money towards the poor people.

  13. Yes, my family follows up on the elections and has watched many of the election debates. Although, I’m usually watching tv on my own or doing my homework while they watch the news. So even though my family is interested in politics I’m usually not that into it.

Something I do know though is that Canada is really a great country and deserves a great Prime Minister. We are so lucky that in we live in Canada where everyone has freedom. In other countries many people our forced to follow laws of their countries that does not relate to freedom. Furthermore, Canada is usually a very peaceful place (If you’re not driving) full of great people. Overall, the best thing about Canada in my opinion is that we have free healthcare, which means even if your rich or poor nurses and doctors are always going to be here to save our lives. If it wasn’t for free health care, we wouldn’t be having our loved ones with us if they got any type of disease.

If I were the Prime Minister of Canada, I would try to stop the major pollution issues going on-even though I don’t have a solution for that yet. On the other hand, I would lower the cost of living by about 4%. The prices of all most everything we need as essentials our sky rocketing. This is one of the major issues that people are addressing in the federal elections. Many people our trying to buy 200$ of food a week with their small salaries of 40,000-dollars a year. Also, with the pricing going up any salary under 16$ an hour is not manageable any more, especially people must pay for their families.

Me and my family have never really been into politics, sometimes my dad would talk to his friends about it but that's pretty much it. I think that the fact that we have free healthcare and that our country is well taken care of is what makes it great, we are very lucky to have clean water and heating everyday. There's also some really nice scenery in untouched places. If i was the prime minister I would make sure we have more homeless shelters. I think that would improve canada because I always see homeless people around metros and stores downtown and I think they should have a place to sleep.

  15. Me and my family follow politics when we watch the news and then we talk about it at dinner.I like to follow politics because it explains and gives me information about what's happening in the world.

I think what makes Canada such a great country is that we have free healthcare and we have a lot of fresh air and green space. We also have so many naturalle services which are very good during the climate crisis.

If I were Canada's prime minister I would make tighter measures to keep climate change in check. I would also try to push the vaccine even more so then they are because of the cricesses in Alberta.

  16. No, my family and I don’t follow politics because I find it really boring. Canada is a really great country because of so many reasons. We have free healthcare here, which is why a lot of people come. We are very lucky to have free healthcare because a lot of other countries aren’t as fortunate enough to have free healthcare. Canada is a great country to live in with so many activities and great living conditions. If I were prime minister, I would make a lot of changes. Everyone says that everyone is really polite in Canada, but there are a lot of crazy people here so our society isn’t the best. I would put a lot of shelters for the homeless people. All throughout Canada, you will find 200 000+ homeless people and it’s so sad to just see them on the streets especially in the winter which is why i’d put a lot of shelters for them.

  17. My family doesn't really follow politics besides sometimes when the CTV news mentions something about the political debate.I believe that Canada is such a great country because we actually able to vote unlike China that does not have the right to choose their leader.Canada is also a democratic country which means that everyone is able to express themselves liberally without any repercussions. In addition Canada offers free health care. Every Canadian has the right to seek medical help without any additional fees. Canada as well has The Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms which assures every Canadian citizens their rights and freedom.Lastly, if I were the Prime Minister I would create more jobs to reduce poverty and listen to the population to make the changes that they want.

  18. Yes my family follows politics but mostly my dad. Canada is a great country to live in because it is a free country, everyone has the right to vote and we are allowed to have our own opinions and we have a lot of natural resources. If was The Prime Minister I would get our army to take their plane and take a bunch of the innocent people in Afghanistan so they can get out. Because of the terrorists. I cant really think of anything that can improve Canada.

  19. I myself couldn't tell you much about politics but my mom is always talking about them. She spends a lot of time on twitter following them and other things. My dad on the other hand doesn't really follow them all that much. Canada is a great country because it's a democracy and everyone gets to voice their opinion unlike some other countries. This makes Canada one of the better countries to live in. You can freely leave and enter the country when you choose however getting into some countries may not be as easy. In Canada we have a lot of freedom, so not many restrictions on things we can do. It also handled Covid 19 pretty well ( compared to some other countries) on how they enforce the rules. If I were the prime minister, i would put a restriction on the amount of homework students can receive because I really don't like having to do a lot of it, doing a it is okay but when I have to get home from school and work on 6 different things, that's what tires
me. I would preserve a lot of the forests and plant more trees. If i became prime minister, I would try to be as eco- friendly as possible to stop climate change and deforestation. I would try to increase the amount of schools so that there are more choices of where people can go to school and more people will have more opportunities. I will also try to increase minimum wage a couple bucks so that employes that get paid minimum get a little extra which can help a lot sometimes. I would plant flowers and vegetation, I would also raise the price of meat since i'm vegetarian and i don't like when people eat animals, so I think that by raising the price a bit people will buy it.

I think Canada is doing pretty great now but those are just something that I would change to improve it.

    -Liam S.

  20. My family doesn’t really follow politics, just as we don’t really follow what’s on the news. We know what’s going on in Canada and in the world, but we don’t know absolutely everything or watch the news every night. My parents do watch a couple of the debates, they make my brother and I watch a couple of the debates as well, just so we are informed who's running, what their campaign is about, ect.
What makes Canada such a great country is that the people of Canada have freedom, and rights, compared to other countries. We are very privileged to live in such a safe and peaceful country.
If I were to be Prime Minister I would improve Canada by lowering taxes, and truly listen to what the people have to say, and do something about it (or at least try to), instead of just pretending to. I would also lower the price of certain items, (it is insane how pricey things are nowadays).

    ReplyDelete
  21. I do not follow politics but my parents follow politics, through the news, the debates and articles on social media. What makes Canada a great country to live in is that we have a great quality of life. We also have accessible and free health care. The education is available to everyone. The culture and the welcoming communities. Canada also has beautiful scenery with great agriculture, mountains and lakes. If I were the Prime Minister of Canada, I would create more accessible homes for young families. I would help reduce poverty and create more jobs. I would also focus on saving the forests and impose stricter rules for people to be eco-friendly and more cautious to the environment. Improving a country is a team effort by all the citizens.

  22. I'm not sure about if my parents really follow politics but I sure don't. One of the reasons I love living in Canada is because of hockey. I love playing hockey during the winter because it gets cold and the winter lasts very long so I have a lot of time to play hockey outside. I personally wouldn't want to be the prime minister so I wouldn't change anything I would try and maintain what we currently have. Would I focus on giving people who live in indigenous reservations clean drinking water because I know some of them still don't have any clean water.

    ReplyDelete
  23. No, my family does not follow politics. I think that Canada is great because we have so much. We have fresh water to drink, we have lots of freedom, lots of Canadiens are very polite, it is very safe because you can't just have a gun in your house and it's just in all a very good place to live. We also have free health care, many people have rights and much more. If I were the prime minister, I think that I wouldn't change too too much, because at my age my parents only really tell me about the good things about the country. So, I don't really think I would change much but maybe I would change some things like, trying to make it so that construction doesn't take as long or maybe make the taxes go towards more helpful things or even make them less. That is all I really know about problems for Canada.
